Press ReleasesFabcon Honored As 2007 Tekne Award Recipient in Green CategoryFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- November 7, 2007 Tekne Awards recognize key innovators in Minnesota technology industries Leading precast concrete manufacturer, Fabcon, was named the recipient of the Green Award at the 2007 Tekne Awards held at the Minneapolis Convention Center on Nov. 1. Presented by the Minnesota High Tech Association (MHTA), in partnership with LifeScience Alley and Minnesota Technology, Inc., the Tekne Awards recognize Minnesota's outstanding technology achievements and leaders. "We are honored to be the recipient among a list of highly respected companies and individuals being recognized by Minnesota's prestigious technology associations," said Mike Le Jeune, president, CEO, Fabcon. "We are committed to providing our customers with products that are environmentally friendly, conserve energy and reduce waste in our environment." Fabcon introduced VersaCore+Green? precast wall panels earlier this year, providing commercial builders, architects and property owners with an opportunity to protect the environment by putting more recycled materials to work. Fabcon's new panels contain as much as 58 percent recycled content by value - and are more energy efficient than other concrete building products in the market. Fabcon's environmental best practices also extend to its manufacturing plants. Water used in the production process is captured and recycled. In addition, excess material can be crushed and recycled into more panels, as well as be used in the base layer under new road construction and in a variety of other applications. Presented annually, the Tekne Awards recognize Minnesota's best and brightest technology users and developers in innovation, development, education, commercialization and management of technology in Minnesota. A list of recipients and finalists is available online at www.tekneawards.org. "The Tekne Awards honor companies that have realized the advantages of applying innovation to technological development here in Minnesota," said Kate Rubin, president, MHTA.
