Press ReleasesNEW AUTOMATED FINISHING MACHINE MEETS TIGHTER TOLERANCES AND PROVIDES GREATER DESIGN FLEXIBILITYFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- August 28, 2006 SAVAGE, Minn., Aug. 28, 2006 ? In the second phase of its recently implemented automation project, Fabcon, a leading precast panel producer, announces the installation of a new, automated finishing machine at its manufacturing facilities located in Minnesota, Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Fabcon designed the new automated finishing machine to create the most accurate exterior wall finish. While conventional, non-automated methods produce panels with tolerances of plus or minus one-fourth of an inch, Fabcon's new automated finishing machine produces tolerances of one-eighth of an inch. In addition, the automated machine increases design flexibility for customers, allowing each panel to have complex finishes without sacrificing efficiency. The new machine can create custom finishes as well, including imprinted bands at any height on the panel. "The new finishing machine creates an imprint finish, a popular option for our large corporate customers, with the greatest accuracy, speed and design flexibility in the market," said Jason Hensley, manager of research and development, Fabcon. "This advancement in finishing represents another step in Fabcon's leadership in customer-driven innovation." The introduction of the new finishing machine follows the first phase of Fabcon's automation project, the laser projection system. The automated laser projects a laser image of designs directly onto panels, eliminating the need to manually transfer panel designs from paper to the manufacturing bed and allowing Fabcon to create the most accurate panels in the shortest amount of time.
