Press ReleasesVERSATILE FABCON WALL PANELS HELP CONTRACTOR CUT PROJECTED COSTS BY NEARLY 50 PERCENTFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- November 4, 2004 SAVAGE, Minn., Nov. 1, 2004 ? Leading precast concrete wall panel producer, Fabcon, helped Anderson Builders avoid unnecessary exterior building-material costs for a substantial project completed in June 2004. Anderson, a Minnesota-based general contractor, found that the nearly 28,400 square feet of Fabcon's VersaCore? precast concrete wall panels cost 50 percent less than masonry to build the GLOBAL facility and showroom in Brooklyn Center, Minn. The warehouse, showroom, and office space features a natural stone look that would have been cost-prohibitive without Fabcon's products and expertise in exterior finishes. "Fabcon's VersaCore insulated sandwich panels were the most cost-effective option for this project, and they helped us meet the owner's material requirements by providing customized finish options," said Sarah Dohmeyer, project manager, Anderson Builders. "Because Fabcon panels can be erected any time of year, we were able to keep our project moving and put precast panels in place even during harsh winter months." To meet the building owner's desire for a natural stone look, Fabcon created two customized stone finishes ? each using different combinations of exposed aggregate and patterned line placements. Compared to other exterior options such as masonry, Fabcon's 12-inch VersaCore insulated sandwich panels provided the most cost-effective option. Masonry, for example, can cost up to 1.5 times more per square foot, depending on variables such as installation time, number of corners, scaffolding required and building coloring. "Building owners often don't realize the flexibility and array of finish options precast concrete can provide," said Dave Anderson, Fabcon sales engineer. "For the GLOBAL project, working with the DLR Group architects and Anderson Builders, we created two unique finishes to accomplish a stone look and feel that delivered a highly cost-effective design."
