FABCON IMPROVES PRODUCTION EFFICIENCIES WITH COMPUTER-AIDED DESIGN AND MANUFACTURING SYSTEMS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- August 16, 2005

SAVAGE, Minn. ? August 16, 2005 ? To standardize the design transfer and manufacturing processes of its precast concrete wall panels, Fabcon, a leading precast panel producer, will install computer-aided design and manufacturing systems at its manufacturing facilities ? located in Indiana, Minnesota, Ohio and Pennsylvania ? by fall 2005. Fabcon's proprietary design software, FabCAD 3D, will interface with FabCAM, a computer-aided manufacturing system, eliminating the need to manually transfer panel designs from paper to the manufacturing bed. The systems will also help the company meet increasing production demands of its precast concrete wall panels for architects, contractors and commercial building owners.

"Our previous method required us to print out panel specifications and manually mark design elements, such as window or door openings, during production," said Tom Kuckhahn, vice president of engineering, Fabcon. "Our new method, working from a computer-aided design system and projected laser image, will greatly improve our manufacturing efficiency and design-transfer precision. This new capability upholds Fabcon's tradition as a leading innovator in the industry."
