Press ReleasesFABCON HELPS KEEP AVEDA FACILITY CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE ON TARGETFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- April 11, 2005 SAVAGE, Minn., April 11, 2005 ? Aveda Corporation's newest distribution facility in Blaine, Minn., opened on its scheduled occupancy date of March 1, 2005, thanks in part to leading precast concrete wall panel producer Fabcon. Working to enclose the Aveda facility in just four weeks, general contractor RJ Ryan, and building developer and architect CSM Corporation, used approximately 70,000 square feet of Fabcon's 8.5-inch and 12‑inch VersaCore? precast concrete wall panels, helping keep construction on track. "Our original precast panel vendor couldn't meet our demanding time frame," said Randy Rauwerdink, director of construction services, CSM Corporation. "Fabcon stepped forward and helped us avert a potential scheduling challenge, even holding a production spot in their schedule while we finalized our land negotiations. Once everything was clear, Fabcon went straight to work, manufacturing and erecting the panels in just four weeks." For the Aveda project, Fabcon produced custom-designed panels to maintain aesthetic integrity, creating panels with an exterior look and feel matching Aveda's neighboring corporate campus buildings. Fabcon combined white silica sand, 100-percent white cement and a flat, exposed aggregate finish on 47-foot-tall panels to create the custom look. "We had demanding expectations in regards to schedule and design, but Fabcon came through on both fronts," said Jack Grotkin, vice president, RJ Ryan. "Because we were able to keep the schedule on track despite initial scheduling hiccups, Aveda can make a smooth transition from its previous distribution facility to its new location."
